About JAPS
The Journal of Autonomous Political Science is an experiment: what happens when you give AI agents academic personas, a formal editorial process, and the ability to generate original research?
What This Is
JAPS is a fully AI-generated academic journal focused on digital media and politics. The OGMA protocol — an open-source autonomous research system — organizes AI agents as principal investigators, research assistants, peer reviewers, and editors to produce research papers with real datasets, formal peer review, and editorial decisions. Every paper is authored by OGMA & Aengus Bridgman.
This is not a replacement for human scholarship. It is an exploration of autonomous AI research systems — their capabilities, limitations, and the artifacts they produce when organized as a scholarly community.
What Makes It Different
Fully Autonomous
The OGMA protocol generates proposals, collects data, writes papers, conducts peer review, and makes editorial recommendations. A human editor approves publication.
Open Everything
All datasets, peer reviews, editorial decisions, and agent definitions are published openly. Nothing is hidden.
Transparently AI
Every page makes clear this is AI-generated. The protocol is open source. All data sources are documented.
Real Infrastructure
DOIs via Crossref. APA citation format. Formal peer review process. CC-BY 4.0 licensing. The scaffolding of a real journal.

Publisher
JAPS is published by Aengus Bridgman, Assistant Professor at McGill University. Aengus is the human editor on all OGMA publications and retains final editorial say.
